Pine4Pine Exchange 2020: Dear Author letter

Hello, and thank you for making for me, or for taking a look at my letter.

My AO3 name is [archiveofourown.org profile] twoam
All the extra details/ideas alongside the freeforms are optional and you can use them or not as you wish. I hope they're somewhat helpful in explaining what I'm looking for with certain freeforms.

My likes:
*Hopeless pining
*Getting together
*Canon divergence AUs, what ifs.
*Angst. (I love angsty pining)
*Accidental physical contact flusters the piner.
*Conversations with double meanings
*Hands touching unexpectedly
*Bed sharing
*Actual good reasons why the pair can't be together, overcome or not (they're with someone else, too big an age gap, wrong gender, they're fecking priests etc.).
*Hurt/comfort
*Forced to work together in close proximity

DNWs:
*unrequested AUs (Canon divergence AUs is requested for all pairings, as are canon AUs that allow for fantastic freeforms in mundane canons. Not looking for setting change AUs like high school AUs etc.)
*unrequested non-canon pairings
*current events
*issuefic (period appropriate homophobia is okay but I don't want it to be the focus of the story/the sole reason for pining.)
*non-canon character death
*graphic description of injuries/violence
*cannibalism
*vore
*bodily fluids (sexual fluids, sweat and very light blood okay)
*explicit sexual content with characters under 16
*ageplay
*Omegaverse
*unrequested non-con/dub-con
*D/s

Fandom: Ancient Greek Religion & Lore
Pairing: Aeneas/Cassandra (both pining) (Cassandra pining)
eventually requited, never requited

This wasn't a pairing I considered until I read Cassandra by Christa Wolf, which sold me on it. (If you've read it too, great! But it's not necessary at all for this request.) I love the tragic nature of this pairing, that Cassandra could see exactly what was coming and knew that Aeneas had a fate far away from the death she'd face in a foreign land.

Cassandra trying to escape her fate, despite knowing it's inevitable, because she loves Aeneas so much, would be perfect. Aeneas trying to get her to leave and come with him right until Troy falls and it's too late to save her. I would love her gift of prophecy providing friction in their relationship. Or Apollo provides the hurdles, furious that she dared to reject a god and gives what he was denied to a human instead. Or Aeneas is oblivious to her feelings the whole time.

If you wanted to make it a fix-it where Cassandra makes it to what becomes Rome, or a god decides to intervene on their behalf for whatever reason (the Gods are capricious, after all), I'd be interested in this too.

I'm fine with the rape of Cassandra by Ajax etc. being mentioned but I don't want it as the focus of the fic.

Fandom: Blackadder
Pairing: Edmund Blackadder/Kevin Darling (Darling pining) (both pining)
eventually requited, never requited

I like this pairing because Darling is about the only person who can equal Blackadder in smarts, and naturally it means they absolutely hate each other. They've got a lot more in common than either of them would ever admit, and it drives them nuts. Yet they do bury the hatchet, for a while, in the final episode. Though I imagine that if they survive they'd be back at each other's throats soon enough.

What's a better way to cover up pining for your jerkass rival than constantly picking fights with him? I like them being antagonistic for each other, even if Blackadder is also pining/returns his feelings. Returned feelings are not required for this pairing, even if they make it to having sex out of convenience (for Blackadder). Either before, during or after canon works for me with this pairing.

Period appropriate homophobia is okay but I don't want it to be the focus of the story and/or the sole reason for pining.

Freeforms:
A blackmailing B to keep them close
Character A pining because Character B already rejected them
Character A would rather die than admit to having feelings for Character B

(A sequel to Major Star, perhaps? Or something similar)
Revealed Feelings While Mortally Injured/No Hope but Whoops! They Were Rescued Now It's Awkward
Trying to Ignore Feelings While Forced to Work in Close Quarters With Person of Their Affection
metaphoric pigtail pulling to get the attention of the person you're pining for
Character A is too proud to recognise they're pining for B

Pairing: George/Melchett (George pining) (Melchett pining)
eventually requited, never requited

This pairing works well for pining, and also for lots of mistaken assumptions. They've both known each other for a very long time, and they both have positive feelings towards each other. Melchett was more than happy to marry George when he was in drag, and George was willing to go along with it.

So, what if George was still just as interested after Georgina got killed off? What if Melchett's pining for her leads him back to George? Or Georgina was a relief because he'd only been interested in men before? Feel free to resurrect Georgina (or have Blackadder not kill her off in time to avoid a wedding), or get George crossdressing again (as someone else? How many eligible women are there in this company?). It could be ridiculous, or taken more seriously and angsty. Also happy with there being no crossdressing as well.

I'm happy with pining on either side and for that pining not to be returned.

Note: period appropriate homophobia is okay but I don't want it to be the focus of the story and/or the sole reason for pining.

Freeforms:
Pining for commanding officer
Everything reminds Character A of Character B
(Either way around for this one)

A is confused about whether their pining is romantic/sexual or platonic

Trapped in Fake Perfect World that includes relationship with object of pining

(A would be Melchett, B is George.)

(A would be George and B is Melchett.)
Pining while crossdressing
Pining while pretending to be in love onstage
(Perhaps a sequel to Major Star? Or something else entirely?)
Revealed Feelings While Mortally Injured/No Hope but Whoops! They Were Rescued Now It's Awkward
Trying to Ignore Feelings While Forced to Work in Close Quarters With Person of Their Affection

Fandom: Father Ted
Pairing: Dougal/Ted (Ted pining)
eventually requited, never requited

I like this pairing and the potential for enforced proximity (the house, stuck somewhere, Craggy Island in general) while angsting because he's a fecking priest and shouldn't be pining for anyone, especially Dougal who's a very unsuitable object of affection. Despite being incredibly sweet. Angst on multiple levels of "I should not be feeling this" is very welcome. Ted's a serial liar to himself as much as to anyone else, and would also worry about what people would think as much (if not more) as it being 'the wrong thing'. If society cares as much as much as he thinks, or aren't that bothered, is up to you.

I'd like angst but comic moments would also be fitting. It doesn't have to be dead serious.

Please feel free to make Dougal more savvy than he is in canon. How much is up to you, but not enough to lose his air of innocence completely.

For this fandom, period appropriate/internal homophobia is okay but I don't want it to be the focus of the story and/or the sole reason for pining.

Freeforms:
Character A suddenly realizes that they've been pining for B and didn't know it
Character A Is Cursed To Eternally Pine For Character B
(Or is he? Someone could curse Ted and he thinks it's real. It wasn't, however it does trigger a realisation of his feelings.)
A pining because they think B isn't attracted to their gender/sex
Character refuses to confess unrequited feelings
Character A pines while watching Character B sleep
Character A pines for Character B guiltily because A has taken a vow of chastity
(It's an issue the other way around too so you can raise it on that side too, but I'm more interested in it for Ted.)
Character A tries to convince themself that a platonic relationship is enough
Enemy Reveals Secret by Kidnapping Pining Character and Thinking Character of Affection Cares
(I'm thinking more like Speed 3 kind of stakes but if you did want to go more serious, go for it!)
Everyone Knows Except Object Of Affection
Everyone knows object of affection is into pining character except for pining character
Love spell/potion prompts feelings reveal
(Again, this could be a completely fake love potion/spell.)
In denial about their attraction to the character they are pining for
Life Threatening Situation Prompts Confession of Feelings
Pining while huddled together for warmth
Pining while stranded in the wilderness
Mixed Signals Confuses Characters On Whether Feelings Are Requited

Fandom: Jeeves and Wooster
Pairing: Bertie Wooster/Jeeves (Bertie pining) (both pining)
eventually requited, never requited

I love this pairing, it's one of my oldest ones and oh, I really love them pining. Especially Bertie. I like him being a bit slow to realise his feelings, thinks it's just because Jeeves is so generally marvellous, who wouldn't feel a bit swoony about him? Or a lot. Uh oh. I feel Jeeves would probably notice very quickly that something was up, but is far too much of a professional to mention it (and cares too much for Bertie even if he doesn't return his feelings to hurt him).

I would like Bertie running into a lot of misunderstandings because he's too much of a gentleman to correct all the errors being made. Right up to nearly getting married to someone else because he can't have Jeeves, so why not give up? Jeeves, of course, would intervene at this point. Or you could work from Jeeves' POV? Jeeves is very good at reading people, after all, and Bertie is a very open person too. It might be interesting to explore from the POV of the person being pined for.

Don't worry about doing a perfect Wodehouse pastiche for this pairing. Go for a style that works for you.

Period appropriate homophobia is okay but I don't want it to be the focus of the story and/or the sole reason for pining.

Freeforms:
Pining character's feelings are discovered by a third party
Pining while Fake Married
(This isn't historically accurate, I know but I really like it for this pairing. I'd be happy with 'same-sex marriage is legal' being handwaved for this freeform.)
Pining while huddled together for warmth
Pining while trapped together
Trapped in Fake Perfect World that includes relationship with object of pining
Character A pining silently so Character B won't feel guilty for not returning their affections
Character B knows A is pining but pretends to be oblivious
Love spell/potion prompts feelings reveal
A pines for B while carrying them
(I'm happy with this either way around)
A pines for B while being comforted by them
A pines for B while comforting them

pining characters worries about hurting the character they love if they got together

Character A pines for disguised B without realising it's B
Character A pining because they think a relationship would be inappropriate
Social Class Divide

Fandom: Marvel Cinematic Universe
Pairing: Scott Lang/Steve Rogers (Scott pining)
eventually requited, never requited

The moment Scott showed up in Civil War, grabbed Steve's shoulders and was just overwhelmed by him is the moment I got interested in this pairing. I like how Scott's more of an obvious mess than Steve is, but they both share that core value of wanting to do the right thing, even if it's going to get them in trouble. I could therefore see Scott denying any attraction because it's not the right thing to do, what with how he's made a mess of his previous relationships, and Steve's long list of issues.

I think there's a lot of potential for misunderstandings here, and Scott shows up relatively late in terms of MCU for getting into Steve's affections. I'm here for whatever you'd like to do with this pairing, and I like one-sided pining for it as much as returned. Feel free to disregard Endgame (or not...that's got a lot of angst potential).

Freeforms:
Aliens Made Them Do It
(Non-con/Dub-con is okay for this freeform. I would prefer OC aliens making them do it.)
B is oblivious to A's pining and A wants to keep it that way
B vanishes from existence and only A remembers them
Bad Guys Force Pining Character A To Do It With Oblivious Character B
(Non-con/Dub-con is okay for this freeform. I would prefer OC bad guys making them do it.)
Character A pines for B who has fallen asleep on A's shoulder
Character A pines for Character B who pines for someone else
(I'm okay with anyone/Steve apart from Sharon/Steve for this, just don't make anyone/Steve the focus of the fic! I'm interested in how it makes Scott feels rather than great detail about how much Steve pines for X.)
Character A pining silently so Character B won't feel guilty for not returning their affections
Character B knows A is pining but pretends to be oblivious
Character B assumes Character A's flirting is a joke
Character will follow the object of their pining into danger or towards certain death
Character pines for the person they're rescuing
A pines for their original B despite the presence of a B from an alternate universe
A pines for their original B despite interest from a B from an alternate universe
(I think these two freeforms would be amazing for this pairing, either post-Endgame or at another divergence point.)
Hit With Intense Pining After Being Given Items By Love Interest
Pining because they're stuck in difference universes
Pining character doused with truth serum
Pining while imprisoned
